Räikkönen optimistic over title chances

Kimi Räikkönen is confident that he can remain in the hunt for the Drivers' title this year, despite being unable to pick up a victory since returning to the sport. The Finn, who sits 48 points adrift of leader Fernando Alonso in the standings, has won four times in Belgium and is in a positive frame of mind for the remainder of the season.

"We still have a good chance, so why not?" the Lotus driver commented. "Apart from Alonso, the rest are pretty close to each other and there's a lot of points still to be won.

"We try to do the best and we haven't managed to put it together this season. We know more or less the reasons (for this) and we learn from those and make it better.

"I have been making mistakes and there have been some mistakes on set-up on Saturdays. It has been working okay on Sundays, not as well as we had hoped but small things can make a big difference."

Räikkönen is refusing to make any predictions ahead of this weekend's Grand Prix in the Ardennes, explaining that although he has enjoyed extensive past success at the venue, it does not guarantee a strong result when he takes to the circuit this time out.

"It's not any more special than other places," he said. "It's a nice race circuit and usually it gives nice racing, but I know it as well as any others.
"It just has been pretty good for us, but I have had some bad races also. It's not like we come here and we should suddenly be good. It can also be a disaster. Hopefully it can be a good normal weekend. We should be up there but we don't know yet."
