Lotus more family-like than other teams

Kimi Räikkönen has quickly settled into his role of lead driver at Lotus as he makes his Formula 1 comeback. The Finn, World Champion of 2007, made an unofficial driving return by running in a 2010 Renault in Valencia for two days earlier this week.
Räikkönen began proceedings with the old car on Monday, ramping up the programme 24 hours later to complete a selection of stints – with both high and low fuel on-board – as well as pit-stop practices and generally acclimatising himself to the Enstone-based team, whose approach he has commended.

“I was expecting it to feel faster than it was,” he told BBC Sport. “Okay, Valencia is not the fastest circuit, but it was still pretty normal. I was expecting it to feel fast when you really go with the throttle, but I had the sensation maybe once.”
Adding that he hopes to challenge at the front when possible, Räikkönen expressed his praise for the team - having previously raced for Sauber, McLaren and Ferrari.
“The team has everything we need to produce a good car,” he continued. “We are not missing something. The people are very keen to have a good year and the atmosphere is great; it’s a bit more family-like than in other big teams, with very nice people to work with.”
Räikkönen is partnered by Franco-Swiss Romain Grosjean, who is now reigning GP2 Champion and also returns to F1 for the first time since the 2009 season.
